Rosie Kennelly, fifth year student at Presentation Secondary School took first price at the regional final of the ARTiculation Kerry Regional Final in St John the Evangelist Church on Thursday 5th March 2020. Runners up were Eoin McElligott from Gaelcholaiste Chiarraí and Joshua O’Sullivan from SPSL Rathmore. Adjudicating the event were community and education consultant Sean Lyons, director of Kerry Writers Museum Cara Trant and former CEO of Siamsa Tire Catriona Fallon.  ARTiculation is a public speaking competition by the Roche Court Educational Trust, promoting the appreciation and discussion of ART, ARCHITECTURE & ARTEFACTS in secondary schools throughout Ireland and the UK.  The competition seeks to engage students regardless of their background or experience with art to develop the confidence and ability to express their opinions and conclusions, explains Claudia Kohler, the Education Officer of Kerry County Museum. “Kerry County Museum is the cultural partner institution for Kerry and last year, we participated for the first time along with Presentation Secondary School, Tralee. The outcome was spectacular. Our two Pres teens Julia Szarota and Eimear O’Sullivan represented their school and Kerry in the All Ireland Final 2019 and took first and second prize respectively. This year, four Kerry secondary schools took part in ARTiculation and we hope this exciting project is going to attract more schools again next year.” On accounts of winning ARTiculation last year, Kerry is the host county for the All Ireland Final this year. Pres student Rosie Kennelly is going to represent her school and the county at the Final in Siamsa Tire competing with students from Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow and Kerry with an expected attendance of 350 students, teachers and parents.
