Saint Brigid Cross making Origami workshop on Saturday 4 February

St. Brigid’s Day – Lá Fhéile Bríde – celebrates Ireland’s only female patron saint on February 1 and most people will be familiar with the popular tradition of making crosses in St Brigid’s honour. Join artist Rebecca Lyons at Kerry County Museum ob Saturday 4 February from 11am until 3pm for a St. Brigid cross making workshop using Origami techniques. As Brigid is associated with the arrival of spring, Rebecca is also going to show you how to make simple but beautiful Origami flowers. This drop-in workshop is suitable for all ages and is included in the regular admission fee: €5 for adults; children go free.

Chinese New Year event at the Museum on Saturday 28 January

2023 is a year of the Water Rabbit. The rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture and 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. Are you heading into Tralee on Saturday 28 January to partake in the Chinese New Year festivities? Make sure to drop into our museum to make your own Chinese dragon puppet. This fun family activity is included in our admission fee of €3 per adult; children go free. Better still, our visitors can avail of two for the price of one on Saturday 28 January. Museum Opening Times January 2023

Happy New Year! We are back open Tuesdays to Saturdays 9:30am to 5:00pm; last admission is at 4:00pm. During January, the Medieval Experience and Archaeology remain closed to our visitors as it gives us a chance to follow-up on necessary maintenance work in the exhibitions. We will be fully back open for Saint Brigid’s Bank holiday weekend. Following exhibitions are open as usual: Casement in Kerry (1916), Main Museum Gallery, Audio-Visual Room and Tom Crean Polar Room. Visitors can avail of a reduced admission fee of €3 for adults and children go free. Watch this space as we are going to launch a new temporary community art exhibition shortly and we are also planning drop-in arts and crafts events for families.
