Events and exhibition closures October to December 2018

If you are planning on visiting Kerry County Museum until Christmas 2018, please note that some of our exhibitions are closed or have limited access for periods of time in the run-up to Christmas to facilitate events and upgrades. This is reflected in a reduced admission fee. The following exhibitions are fully open: Our special exhibition ‘1916: Casement in Kerry’, our Audio-Visual Room and the Main Gallery with artefacts on display from the Stone Age to modern times. The Tom Crean Room is currently fully closed until further notice to facilitate an upgrade of the exhibition. The Medieval Experience & Archaeology Hall are closed during our popular family events ‘The Haunted Hall’ at Halloween in October and ‘The Enchanted Hall’ at Christmas in December. In the run-up to Halloween and Christmas, access to both exhibitions may be limited. Throughout the month of November, both the Medieval Experience and the Archaeology Hall, are open as usual. Please call the Museum at 066 7127777 for further information, tours and workshops for groups or to book our forthcoming Halloween, Science Week, National Circus Festival or Christmas family events.

ARTiculation Ireland 2019 comes to Kerry: Call for Participation

ARTiculation Ireland is a public speaking competition which promotes the appreciation and discussion of art, artefacts and architecture in secondary schools throughout Ireland. The competition seeks to engage students between 16-18 years, regardless of background or experience, with art to develop the confidence and ability to express their opinions and conclusions.
Participating students are offered the chance to deliver a ten-minute presentation before their peers and a wider audience about a work of art, an artefact or piece of architecture of their choice, through a series of internal school heats and regional heats across Ireland with the chance of being selected for the National final. In 2019, students from Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork, Dublin and, for the first time, Kerry will participate in this international competition. If you are a secondary school teacher and are interested in ARTiculation please contact our Education Officer at education@kerrymuseum.ie
